Charley Flyte is an American Film, TV, and Theater actress.
She is Oglala Lakota (Pine Ridge) and Haudenosaunee Kanyen'kehá:ka (AKA Mohawk Iroquois Six Nations).
She studied Film and Theater at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and then moved to NYC to study acting at the T. Schreiber Studio.
Some of her favorite roles include "Rachel" in It Will Be Okay, a young mother who crosses over to the other side after a devastating car crash; "Valentina" in Mummer, a young mail-order bride with a supernatural guardian and a taste for vengeance; and "Rosie" in Rush, a tough but good-hearted First Nations woman who teaches a naive young woman how to survive in the Yukon during the Gold Rush.
She has also written and directed two short films, I Would Die For You and 1:17 AM, has had poetry published in Spork Magazine. Her short film script, CHARLA, was a Finalist for the 2019 Sundance Native Filmmaker Fellowship Lab.
She was raised with the Indigenous values of honoring the Earth and her peoples (the humans, the animals, the plants), and of being a "good relative." This world and this life is a gift from the Creator. We are but one part of this ecosystem, this gorgeous living organism that is our world, our Earth. Because of this, she is a passionate advocate for a healthy environment, healthy water as a human right (#MniWiconi #WaterIsLife), healthy soils, seedkeeping, animal rights, and fair and equitable treatment and respect for all peoples.
